Modelling Sediment Retention Services and Soil Erosion Changes in Portugal: A Spatio-Temporal Approach

چکیده
Soils provide important regulating ecosystem services and have crucial implications for human well-being environmental conservation. However, soil degradation particularly erosion jeopardize the maintenance existence of these services. This study explores spatio–temporal relationships to understand distribution patterns sediment retention in mainland Portugal. Based on Corine Land Cover maps from 1990 2018, InVEST Sediment Delivery Ratio (SDR) model was used evaluate influence dynamics water Spatial differences levels were observed within NUTS III boundaries, showing which areas are more vulnerable processes. Results indicated that Region Leiria, Douro coastal regions decreased importantly capacity over years. most territory (77.52%), changes little or not (i.e., less than 5%). The statistical validation proved consistency results, demonstrating SDR is an appropriate tool estimating loss potential by at regional/national levels, although having its limitations. These findings can be relevant support strategies efficient land-use planning regarding mitigation practices stimulate further investigation a national level this service.

Spatio-Temporal Parameters' Changes in Gait of Male Elderly Subjects
Objectives: The purpose of this study was to compare spatio-temporal gait parameters between elderly and young male subjects. Methods & Materials: 57 able-bodied elderly (72±5.5 years) and 57 healthy young (25±8.5 years) subjects participated in this study. A four segment model consist of trunk, hip, shank, and foot with 10 reflective markers were used to define lower limbs. Kinematic data c...
متن کاملFuzzy class membership approach to soil erosion modelling
To optimize the use of the available land and water resources of a watershed for sustainable agricultural production, soil erosion assessment and conservation are essential. The Universal Soil Loss Equation (USLE) is a widely accepted model (Wishmeier and Smith, 1965. Predicting Rainfall Erosion Losses from Cropland (Agricultural Handbook No. 282). USDA. Washington, D.C.) for assessing soil ero...
متن کاملTemporal changes in soil aggregates and water erosion after a wildfire in a Mediterranean pine forest
The evolution of soil structure after a forest fire was studied on two zones representatives of a typical Mediterranean Pine forest. These zones were in opposite slope orientation but with similar topographical and pedological characteristics. Changes in soil macro-aggregation and water stable micro-aggregation were monitored seasonally during a year after the fire. The water erosion patterns w...
متن کاملSpatio-temporal changes of water quality variables in a highly disturbed river
Quality of river varies widely depending on the land use in the catchment and environmental factors. Many rivers in developing countries are unhealthy because they contain harmful physical, chemical and biological agents. Zanjanrud River, located in Zanjan Province, Iran, where recently faced human intervention needs a regular monitoring from upstream to downstream for sustainable management. H...
متن کاملSpatio-Temporal Variation of Suspended Sediment Concentration at Downstream of a Sand Mine
The growing population led to greater human need to use natural resources such as sand and gravel mines. Direct removal of sands from the bed river leads to increase suspended sediment concentrations in downstream of harvested area and creates other problems viz. filling reservoirs, change in hydraulic characteristics of the channel and environmental damages. However, the range of temporal and ...
